The Foot Clinc is opened the 1st and third Thursdays from 9-11 am.
The foot clinic was opened in 2018 on Holy Thursday. See the photos here.
Holy Thursday is the day Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to show them how much he cared for them and valued them.
This is a beautiful ministry that we can provide to our friends.
The foot clinic is run by Dr. Jim Flynn, and some great volunteers. It provides basic foot care. Foot care is very important for our friends, many do not have safe shoes or shoes that protect them from the elements.
Washing the feet: another beatitude, The primary beatitude in John's gosple.
John 13: 14-17
If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet.
I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.
Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger- greater than the one who sent him.
If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.
Chiara Lubich said in a commentary on Scripture in 1982: The mutual service and reciprocal love that Jesus taught through this surprising action is, therefore, one of his beatitudes.
Doing what Jesus did (practicing this beatitude) means understanding that our Christian life has meaning if we live ‘for others, if we consider our existence as a service to our brothers and sisters and we base our whole lives on this. Then we will have achieved what Jesu has most at heart. We will have lived the Gospel and will be truly blessed.’
